Haystack is a photo triage app for iPhone. You take several photos in a session to get one good one, and all of them stay in your library forever. Haystack groups photos taken moments apart into a single stack, lets you compare them side by side, and helps you decide which to keep, which to set aside, and which to delete.
Haystack groups photos taken within about half a minute of each other, and you can change that gap in Settings. If your library has no bursts or back-to-back shots, every photo is its own stack, and that is the app working rather than failing. Take a few photos of the same thing a couple of seconds apart and they will appear together.
Straight to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, exactly as if you had deleted them there. You have 30 days to recover them before iOS removes them for good. Haystack keeps no separate copy.
Sweeping sets a photo aside without deleting it. It leaves Haystack's main grid so you can stop looking at it, and nothing happens to the photo itself. You can see everything you have swept on the Swept Photos screen and restore any of it at any time.
They are optional. If you switch them on in Haystack's Settings, Haystack keeps two albums in Photos that mirror your decisions, so your keeps and sweeps are visible outside the app. Both are off until you turn them on. Switching one off deletes the album Haystack made.
No. An album is only a list pointing at photos. Deleting an album never deletes a photo, whether you delete it in Photos or by switching the toggle off in Haystack.
It moves to the Hidden album in Photos, under Utilities, and you can unhide it there whenever you like. It also disappears from Haystack, because iOS stops showing hidden photos to apps other than Photos itself.
No account, no sign-in, and nothing is uploaded. Your photos and everything Haystack works out about them stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
